Cannatea, Weed Tea, Bhang...it goes by many names. Today we'll learn how to make a few cups of it. I will give you guys an easy butter-based recipe for Marijuana Tea...of course, feel free to substitute cream, oil, whole fat milk, etc...in fact, feel free to play with all the ingredients depending on what you're trying to achieve so long as you follow the basic principles. These principals are similar to my Cannabutter cooking guide; boil the water while finding something the THC can be soluble in, then strain the foliage out. Except at the end of this recipe you just throw in a tea bag so its a little simpler :)
As the video implies, this recipe makes 3 cups (700 ml) of the Tea. This will serve 1-2 people depending on tolerance & strain potency. I usually drink about two thirds of this to myself for a rock solid stone that goes on for a LONG time. That's not bad considering that two thirds of a 0.5 gram recipe is only 0.33 grams of pot. WARNING: like all edibles, tea can take a WHILE to fully kick in so don't overdo it. Over an hour for many people.
Hey lex I've made this many times your way but when i refrigerate it the butters seems to harden and it is gross. How can i change that
I'd suggest switching to one of the other ingredients I mention as an alternative. Any highly-fatty ingredient will work the same.
I've been making weed tea using this technique for about a year now. Very good. But lately i've been reading a lot about decarbing the weed beforehand. I assume this is unnecessary since we're boiling the weed for 30+ minutes for the tea? Would decarbing it in the oven for say 30 minutes at 230 degrees before adding to the boiling water affect the potency? Or would it just be extra work with no benefit? Or would it possibly even weaken the weed potency by burning off some?
Hi! That's a good question...I've never attempted it myself, but doing a sort of "pre-decarb" usually boosts potency for other recipes, so I'd assume it would boost this one too. Professional edibles bakers often swear by pre-decarbing as a beneficial extra step, but they got the time....not everyone does.
How can I assure that this fully works?
Just stumbled upon your sample youtube videos a few days ago, visited the site and have not regret it since! Very helpful and informative! As a recreational user always open to trying new methods videos like this one make my day! Thanks for the great work, Lex!
So do I have to decarb the bud before I make tea?
